Roland embraces the Statutory Town Form of Government, overseen by a dedicated Board of Trustees. Comprising five trustees, each nominated by ward and elected at large, they collectively serve as the governing body for the Town of Roland, Roland Utility Authority, and the Roland Development Authority.

Located in Sequoyah County, Roland is situated on U.S. Highway 64 and adjacent to Interstate 40. The town is four miles east of Muldrow and approximately six miles west of the Oklahoma-Arkansas state line. The settlement emerged from a dispersed rural community in the Cherokee Nation, which also sheltered whites, some of whom were legally in the nation and others who had intruded illegally from Arkansas. After the Kansas and Arkansas Valley Railway built tracks through the region in 1888, the railroad, which was soon leased to and then acquired by the St.

The Roland Municipal Court has jurisdiction over all traffic and misdemeanor offenses committed in violation of current city ordinances. All felonies and misdemeanors committed in the Town of Roland but outside the parameters of the Town of Roland are prosecuted in Sequoyah County District Courts.

The Roland City Park is located directly behind the police station on Creek Street. It has a 1/3 mile paved walking trail, playground equipment, and picnic pavilions with bbq grills. It also contains the Roland Veterans Memorial which contains the names of the Roland veterans who have served our country.

Shop with a Cop Event!

The Town of Roland is excited to announce our annual Shop with a Cop/Firefighter event for children 12 years old and younger! This special event will take place on Saturday, December 14th at the Roland Dollar General, starting at 7:00 AM and wrapping up at 8:45 AM. After the shopping fun, stick around for our Noon Christmas Parade!
